Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
Just a little comfort for bedtime. :-) This bit of scripture inspired the writing a the old hymn "On Eagle's Wings". My daddy's mother would sing this softly in my ear as she rocked me when I was very small. When our pianist began playing the melody at choir practice, I nearly fainted as the scent of Mawmaw's "Charlie" perfume wafted through the air. Strange how songs can evoke such memories... Here's the chorus:
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

It is amazing how scriptures bring things to mind. Do you know that I can not read that verse without the lyrics of a song from my childhood popping into my mind?
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings as eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint, Teach me Lord, Teach me Lord to wait."
I can hear you singing it... :-)
